@scottpsfan14: At least post in game screenshots of KZ : SF . All of those are promotional screens with no hud .

Does that really matter. Learn to trust what sony says.

Not after 1080p/60fps , bold statement about Watch Dogs .

It doesn't matter if it's promotional shots and if you never actually see this detail in game. The fact is, They look good, even if these shots are not actually rendered on the PS4 most likely lol.

These might not be what you see in the game, but this looks amazing. PS4 may not be able to do this out right, well maybe at 8 fps lol. But it shows what the next Killzone might look like in game when more optimizations are made.

Wait what? I played the game on PS4, and this is what it looked like. Am I crazy or something? I tlooked like this at 60 fps.

I think this thread is completely off the rails; why are you guys NOT talking about Watch_dogs?

*sigh*

Okay, look. In RE: to performance upgrades, fans of all 3 consoles need to just get a grip and realize that this happens every gen. Performance upgrades and optimizations are par for the course, this happens during a generation. Why fans of every camp freak out when something is talked about is beyond me.

Going by the PR release, it sounds like Halo 5 will be open-world. Thats intriguing, although I wonder if some of the typical audience members will be alienated by that large of a shift in Halo. Either way, excited to see how it develops.

Also, yay for rumors becoming official. Guess Halo 2 anniversary is real too. As for MS' fall/holiday lineup, Halo 2A, Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive seem fine to me. Right now, exclusive lineups don't really matter much except to fanboys, but we'll see if MS may announce anything that can pull the console out of its sales rut.

I can tell you - none of that list is real.

Price is not the issue the Xbox One is facing, not at all. Taking the Kinect out does nothing but hit the relatively small hold-out of people who wanted an Xbox One minus the Kinect. The console would've sold just fine at $499 had they just found a way to market the console better. Thats why I say nothing they announce at E3 will matter if they continue with the same marketing approach they've used this last year.

And considering Mehdi is the head of Marketing for Xbox, i'm not surprised this aspect has been one of the few things to have gone unchanged. When the marketing approach gets changed, then we might finally see the rise of the Xbox One.

Now thats a riot.

Dropping the gamepad does nothing but make the Wii U less attractive to me. It's the one standout feature the console has. Lets not even discuss that the alternative would be a Wii-mote, or one of those 360 pad-looking controllers Nintendo puts out.

No, much like Microsoft's decision yesterday, removing the gamepad would remove much of the console's identity, and really make me question Nintendo's ability to pursue a vision over a long period of time.

Thats why I think, overall, yesterday's decision by MS was a long-term mistake. I don't think Microsoft's problem with the Xbox One is a matter of price or software lineup, but of marketing. It's hard to find someone who purchased the Xbox at $499 that thinks it doesn't offer its cost in value, and i'll agree that it does, especially with Kinect.

Taking kinect out of the equation allows MS to tap into demand resting at $399, but considering the console was at $50 more with a free game & kinect for most of March, I have a hard time believing that the problem with this console and spurning demand for it is price. I think its more a matter of marketing and mass public perception. And until I see moves made by MS to try and rectify them, I don't see them being alleviated anytime soon.

Hey OT,

The analyst group referenced for this study, the IDC, also put out this gem in '06:

Well they at least got one of them right xD

Always makes me chuckle. On a serious note, I read the study the IDC put forth this time around, and there are a ton of things I just don't agree with.

See, i'm not like a lot of people out there within the industry who believe the Xbox One's problems were a matter of price.Sure, hitting lower price-points will generate more demand, but I think the value offered in the $499 Xbox One was justified. Instead, the main issue with the Xbox One that has held it back from enjoying ever increasing demand and sales is a matter of perception.

The Xbox One just has poor marketing, not because of what it offers, but because of how marketing & overall vision for the device has been sold to consumers. I think even with the $499 box, the right marketing angle would've resonated greatly with consumer audiences in the US & UK, and the sales would've reflected that. Saying that they are going to focus on games now, while nice, is a bit confusing - even by Mehdi's own reasoning, they have had a very strong lineup of games, with the company not backing down on games ever since E3 of last year, so the library isn't the problem here. I don't think there is anything they can announce at this year's E3 that will change the current situation, simply because that would imply their lineup has been weak, when it totally hasn't.

Just looking at where the pre-orders are for the $399 sku on Amazon after 24 hours here in the US, I expected pent-up demand for a Kinect-less, lower priced box to put this console nearing the top of the charts. But, it hasn't. And all it did was reinforce that the Xbox One's main problem, much like the Surface had, is a problem of marketing, PR, and perception, and until they find a way to properly sell this console, the sales result aren't going to change.
