Poll Would you like it if Fromsoft developed the next Zelda game? (36 votes)

Yes 33%
No 67%

What do y'all think? Personally, i think they pussified Zelda for long enough. We're at a point where Link looks like a femboy. Give it another entry or two, and he'll be indinstinguishable with Zelda. The "dark" and atmospheric environment that's present in every fromsoft title is long gone, but it was present before, so its not like its an unknown quantity for Zelda titles.

Not only do i think that Fromsoft would develop the best Zelda game to date, but Nintendo doing a collab with Fromsoft for their flagship title could be a bigger deal marketing wise than GRR Martin working on ER.

I would actually prefer Capcom to make a Zelda game again instead of FromSoftware.

Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Oracle of Ages and The Minish Cap were really good games and it would be cool if Capcom made another Zelda title with Nintendo again.

Other than Bloodborne, I'm not big on the From art styles. The games are pretty ugly and the enemy designs are gross/strange. I feel like Nintendo has a good handle on the Zelda aesthetic.

I thought Zelda was the guy😜

Seriously though, I'm not sure. I have no doubt they could do a good job, but I don't necessarily want the FS feel on everything. Let's get some new feelings. That being said, I haven't really played a Zelda game since LttP. So my opinion doesn't really matter.

I did think this look alright though.

Capcom would be a great idea as well, but their artists are simply not on par, and i think this part is too crucial for Zelda.

I think they could make a good Zelda spin-off, if they had a lot of help from Nintendo.

But still, From Software's strength is in its swordplay and big flashy boss fights. Zelda games feature so much more than that. So I don't think From Software would be a great fit for the IP, unless they're making a wildly different spin-off game (like Hyrule Warriors).

To put it another way:

- What's your favourite puzzle in a From Software game?

- What's your favourite non-combat mechanic in a From Software game?

- What's your favourite movement upgrade in a From Software game?

- What's your favourite Zelda-style temple in a From Software game?

- What's your favourite pleasant, peaceful area in a From Software game?

- What's your favourite piece of music from a From Software game?

- What's a not-completely-awful platforming sequence in a From Software game?

There's so many things that make Zelda games click that I just don't get from the Soulsbornering games.

Fromsoft made Armored Core, and you think they can't come up with movement upgrades in a game where it makes sense? You're being fanboyish toward Nintendo, but that's not a surprise. From your whole list, the only thing Fromsoft hasn't delivered are clever puzzles, and i do believe they have a place in Souls titles, but since we haven't see anything decent, i'll give you that one. Everything else would be done better by Fromsoft. At worse, maybe on par.

Nope, what I need from them is Sekiro 2, no other game has satisfied me when I hear the sound of two swords clashing and feel it.

I'm not clamoring for it because Nintendo does damn fine with making Zelda games, but I'd be psyched to play a from software version of Zelda. For sure.

No way From Soft has the technical know-how to deliver anything close to the new Zeldas. That being said, I wish big IPs tried different developers.

I want an Halo since player game done by Arkane!

Not a good idea. Souls games are already inspired by Zelda and FromSoftware can do their own thing while Nintendo does their thing.

How about a mature Zelda game that focuses on atmosphere and architecture of the environment so every location is more memorable? Cuz Nintendo sure as shit ain't doing that, they're simply incapable.

No, there are already many Zelda games and I would rather From work on something else.

I also think Nintendo would be restrictive on what they can do with it anyway, and not let them do everything they want.

Personally, no. I have no interest in any Zelda games. They're just not fun to me, personally. And unless the majority of Zelda fans are also FromSoft fans, I don't think they'd want their franchise to go another direction in regards to lore and combat. Don't fix what isn't broken, as the saying goes.

A remake of OoT with the FROM approach to combat and level design would be interesting.

Nothing wrong with androgynous Link tho. I have enjoyed most of the the artistic approaches Nintendo have taken with Zelda games.

Exactly, Fromsoft is a one trick pony. Now if the Zelda team developed the next Fromsoft game...holy crap would that be an epic game.

If we ever start getting crossovers like that then I suppose I'd be interested, but in all honesty the ones we have gotten over the years have mostly been train wrecks. Personally I'd prefer they keep things original instead of trying to force merge in most parts of the industry, although there are some exceptions.

I would rather Nintendo try their hand at a harder, darker, more visceral Zelda game rather than outsource it to another company. That feeling is the same with most games I'd suppose.

No. But if From made a game more similar to Zelda, like with temples and puzzles and shit, could be cool.

If you want to force From onto a Nintendo series, Metroid would probably be a better fit.

There's really no need to strangle a great dev with the burden of dealing with IP. This is the same weather it's Zelda or Star Wars or whatever else. They're a great studio, but that sort of back and forth coordinating with multiple stakeholders is absolutely soul crushing and anyone who has worked in games or just large software corporations in general knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Ironically, for as terrible as they are at making games, this sort of communication is precisely what souless juggernauts like EA are best at doing. No need to taint real artists like From Software with such busywork.

Edit: I saw someone mention Capcom earlier; now that makes sense. They strike a balance of having great developers along with the corporate shell for dealing with this sort of IP busywork. So they could actually make it work.

No.

There are many thins that make Zelda tick. FromSoft are pretty mediocre at most of them. And I would prefer it if Link didn't roll around in combat like some imbecile.

Fromsoft should focus on its strengths. Which is its boss design. And execution of its combat (although I really don't like Souls combat, FromSofts execution of it is superb).

lol

But could work for Metroid maybe. Samus' suit could be an explanation of why she'd be able to dodge a lot and quickly. It would of course look cool and slick, and not like a fleshbag throwing themselves on the floor like Souls. I liked the combat in Other M, but not much else of that game. Would be cool to see something similar to that, and with From's experience with level design, melee combat (Souls, Sekiro) and shooting (mech games), they might be able to pull a Metroid off? With some help from Nintendo, of course.

It could be interesting, but the current Zelda games are just as good if not better than From Soft games ... give a new Castlevania by From Soft and now we are talking.

I wouldn't be against Fromsoft making a Zelda game, but I wouldn't want them to just make Zelda into Dark Souls. But a Zelda game with a darker tone and more combat focus could be cool, as long as they don't drop the ball on the other stuff.

Y'all are focusing on dodges like a dodge defines a developer😆The whole point of it is to iframe through attacks, and if a dodge would make Link too goofy (which lets not kid ourselves, it wouldn't), he can instead use his shield to deflect attacks, and you'd get the same effect as a dodge. People really do have zero imagination when it comes to game development. Cringe af.

Its a video game, wake the **** up. Imagine bitching about a video game mechanic, one that makes the combat system extremely reactive. So cringe of you to think otherwise.

If a game that aimed for realism (escape from tarkov, tlou2, rdrd2, etc) added something like that, it wouldn't make sense, but you're playing an anime ass game with 500KG swords that you can swing as if they didn't weight anything, and you're moaning about iframe dodges🤡As i have told you for years at this point, when you're desperate to find some negatives about Fromsoft bangers, you look like the King🤡

There are way better systems than throwing yourself at the enemy's attack. Such as directional parrying (as seen in Kingdom Come).

It also, as previously stated, makes defense too easy. Not only are dodge rolls extremely easy to execute, resulting in an easy game. But it serves as a easy get out of jail card when you can effortlessly restore a bad situation back to neutral.

As far as I am concerned, Dodge rolls are a tedious mechanic.

Such as directional parrying (as seen in Kingdom Come)

If that was the case, literally the whole industry wouldn't be copying IT for over 10 years. Stop coping.

Just stop. Everyone is trying their hardest to ride what Fromsoft has been leading for over 10 years. Without a shadow of a doubt, with the release of Demon's Souls, Fromsoft shook the industry. With the release of Dark Souls, they literally grabbed the whole industry by the ballz.

Fromsoft would offer a Zelda game that is so far ahead of what Nintendo can achieve, that 98% of nostalgic millennials will be in denial about how far superior Fromsoft's zelda is. You know it, i know it, we all know it and accept it.

Exactly. Zelda has so much more going for it than the worlds of FromSoftware that only want to destroy you. Got tiresome after fifteen years of nothing but, with them always trying to live up to the notoriety, bringing us to games that now feel cheap, majority of enemies delaying their attacks, punishing intuition. I also don't have to see that desaturated Roger Deakins still of cinematography when I play Zelda. Miyazaki became depressing.

Guy in the other threat was probably right about Hardwenzen being insecure about Elden Ring.
