Modders see PS5's tech demo and raises them a modified GTAV

Yes, the PS5 tech demo was impressive. OK....really impressive!

But now, from a small crew of people working on an OK game, comes something also impressive.

The Natural Visions Evolved GTAV modification!

Impressive? Or not so much? I gotta say though that video was edited extremely well! Very fun to watch.

I am frankly a bit impressed by it. I don't know if it is technically more impressive than the PS5 tech demo, but I do find it impressive a small group of modders managed to take a game from the early part of this gen and make it look next-gen.

So, what do you all think? I might give it a go, see if I can fry an egg on my PC :D

Wonder if they can make RDR 2 photorealistic, as it is the same game engine albeit modified in-house by Rockstar already.

*correction, GTAV is actually from last gen (it was available for PS3 and Xbox360).

I mean, its a tech demo. Developers always show off higher graphics just to get everyone hype for next-gen. Sorry but I wasn't impress with that mod of a GTA.

It is impressive, but not as close as to what the UE5 demo showed in terms of overall quality. Still, impressive for an engine that's not supposed to support the stuff the mod will do.

The UE5 demo is obviously much more detailed. A small room in that demo had more geometry than any scene in GTAV, despite that game taking place in a huge open world.

The GTAV mod does look amazing though. Vanilla GTAV is still one of the most impressive games around, which is incredible considering it's quite an old game now. R* are in a league of their own when it comes to open worlds in my opinion, and I can't wait to see what they can achieve on the new consoles, particularly now they aren't so limited by crappy CPUs.

Just a tiny bit? Remember to keep it in context. GTAV is almost seven years old.

Yeah that's sort of the point I'm trying to get across.

Yeah Rockstar has two ginormous wins to their credit--GTAV and RDR2--and that's not even counting their other titles as well that have large game worlds.

What impresses me the most is how GTA5 is still relevant 7 years later. Like what the f***!?

That looks stunning. I especially like the raytracing based color grading and enhanced building details.

I was never a huge fan of GTA IV enbs, it came with too many downsides.

Bright places were too bright, dark places too dark, ...

But still it looked nice:

GTA V lighting looks a million times better though.

People still play Age of Empires 2 (1999), Half Life (1998) and Counterstrike (1999)

Why would a good game ever age or die down?

@jangles: I'm not a huge fan of GTA franchise despite I played them all, I seen better mods then this. Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Epic Tech Demo PS5 over this.

Looks good for a glorified Xbox 360 game (a testament to Rockstars godlike world design), but doesn't come close to the Unreal Engine 5 demo imo

And I still think GTA4 modded looks better than modded GTA5, but only because I like the photorealistic look to GTA5s more stylized look

I walked through the entire map of GTA4 with that mod taking screenshots of literally every street, and not a single store or building is the same. The attention to detail is insane.

I was more in impressed with how they designed the trailer then the actually graphics mod. I mean yeah it looks a bit better from the vanilla GTAV but it's not that big of a jump from this GTAIV trailer from back in the day. IMO this is probably the best graphics mod I've ever seen this is a much bigger jump in graphics.

If I was Rockstar:

1. Release "GTA 5 Remastered" for PS5 with single player dlc and GTA online.

You make the traditionalists happy with the single player and you keep milking the cash cow that is GTA online.

Pffft... that pop-in, those textures, time to wait for GTA6.

Looks like a PS2 game.

I'm no GTA fan but, give me GTA: San Andreas fully remake with GTA online included and Rockstar can take my money as much as they want but I still adore San Andreas.

This is probably one of the games I am most looking forward to.

DCS World is fun and all but sometimes it's all a bit much.

I am optimistic but it also seems incredibly ambitious; it will be interesting if they can pull it all off.

yeah i see this so much. i don't even get why. yes the video looks great. but can you land and walk around that world? of course it looks great up in the air. you can achieve this much detail. but if you took the same world you see and make it into a open world game you could never get that much detail. is it the specs that he is showing.

These 4K-8K GTA V videos look incredible but they have waaay too much sharpness added in. It actually adds back the aliasing that 4K+ resolution usually offsets.
