Jesse Faden has found her way to the Federal Bureau of Control in a search to find out what happened to her long lost brother. See when they were young Jesse and her brother Dylan accidently discovered a device that let them visit different dimensions where they found an otherworldly being that has since bonded to them. This being has granted Jesse and Dylan unique powers making them very interesting subjects for the bureau. As Jesse enters the bureau finds it has been taken over by hostile forces and her special abelites may be the only hope to set things right. For some reason everyone seems to believe Jesse is now charge of the bureau. It is a lot of pressure but you'll have to help if you wish to learn more about what happened to Dylan since you two were separated all those years ago.

Jesse will need both her unique gun and all the powers at her disposal to defeat the threat known as the Hiss. The director's gun is a very special weapon as it can change into various forms and provides infinite ammo. Certain forms help take on multiple enemies while others let you pick off enemies from afar. There is no traditional reloading instead you'll have to wait for your ammo to recharge after unloading your clip. While you're waiting on your gun you can use your telekinesis to hurl objects at any near by threats. Or if you need to just get away from the action to recover bring up a shield to deflect incoming attacks. You won't start with too many powers but you'll get more and more tricks up your sleeve as you progress.

The oldest house is the base of operations for the bureau and exploring it is vital to your success. As you explore you will find many documents filling out the history of the bureau and those who work there. The additional lore is nice but you will also find chests containing key upgrade components and mods. The various components can be used to upgrade your weapons so they not only become more powerful but allow for up to three mods. Weapon mods can do anything from increase damage, accuracy, and charge times. Personal mods will enhance the effect of Jesse's powers, her health, and the energy she needs to use her powers.

This game is a real treat both from a world-building perspective and from the exciting combat mechanics. All of this is enhanced in the Ultimate Edition with the addition of two excellent DLC packs that let Jesse learn more about the Oldest House as well as tie this game to the Alan Wake universe. There is enough content in this package to easily last you for 30-40 hours of engaging gameplay. I found the main questline to be a pretty reasonable challenge but for those who like to test there skills a couple side-quest offer much more difficult fights. Offering an intriguing story-line and action-packed combat I'm sure most people who play this game will have a good time. So are you ready to uncover the bureau's deepest secrets and learn more about your own past?
