Feelin' sneaky? The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is 33% off at select online retailers right now. The discount applies to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, and drops each version to just $40 (normally $60). We saw a similar deal at Amazon earlier in the year, but this time, it's available at Best Buy and Walmart as well--so if one sells out, be sure to check the others since this is a fantastic opportunity to play or revisit one of the most important video game franchises.

The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 includes seven games: Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater alongside the classic MSX2 and NES versions of the original Metal Gear, as well as Snake's Revenge for NES and Metal Gear 2 for MSX2. This isn't just a treasure trove of stealth action gameplay but also a convenient collection that is enhanced with the addition of extra content. It also comes with the motion comics Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel (2006) and Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinée, strategy guides, screenplay books, and a curated in-game soundtrack.

It is worth noting that the Switch version runs at 30fps, while other platforms offer 60fps. Otherwise, the included content and bonus materials are identical between all versions.

"Konami has still put together a comprehensive bundle, collecting five highly influential games (and multiple variations) from a period spanning 24 years," Jason Fanelli wrote in GameSpot's Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection review. "There are other ways to play these games, but I think we often undersell the appeal of convenience. Being able to easily access them all on a modern console is a major selling point." While some of these titles might show their age mechanically, the overarching Metal Gear Solid narrative holds up remarkably, and many of its themes like digital surveillance, artificial intelligence, and weaponized misinformation feel more relevant than ever. Be sure to grab the collection while the deal is still available.
