Activision is officially announcing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III inside Call of Duty: Warzone this week, and everyone who takes part in a special in-game event will be able to earn some rewards.

The event is called Shadow Siege, and the items up for grabs include everything in the graphic and listed below. This includes a battle pass tier skip, the Crimson Sound calling card, and a Konni Group emblem. Players can also earn a new weapon, the M13C assault rifle. All of these items will be available for Modern Warfare II and Warzone immediately after the August 17 event.

Double XP in Warzone will begin on August 17 at 9:30 AM PT / 12:30 PM ET, just before the Shadow Siege event begins at 10:30 AM PT / 1:30 PM ET. Activision isn't giving much away, saying specifics are "shrouded in secrecy," but the developer shared a message from the fictional Commander Phillip Graves from Modern Warfare II to set things up: "This is an airborne to ground assault of the Konni-occupied Zaya Observatory."

Shadow Siege Rewards

  • Konni Group emblem
  • Crimson Sound calling card
  • Battle token tier skip
  • Gas Canister weapon charm
  • Serpent Slayer vehicle skin
  • M13C assault rifle

As part of the event, players will join Shadow Company, fight against Konni forces, and secure chemical weapons "before it's too late."

In other news, Activision has confirmed that most of your purchases, Operators, and even weapon levels will carry forward to Modern Warfare III when it launches on November 10.

Microsoft is in the process of trying to buy Activision Blizzard and the Call of Duty series, but the deal isn't done yet. And even if it does close, Call of Duty is staying on PlayStation for at least the next decade.
